SBI notifies of suspicion ex-head of Special Communications Service for illegal payment of bonuses to himself
KYIV. Sept 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has notified of suspicion the former Head of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine for abuse of office.
"In 2018-2019, the lieutenant general made decisions on the accrual and payment of bonuses and other incentive payments to himself and those close to him. He did this contrary to the current legislation without the consent of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine," the SBI said on its website on Monday.
The suspicion was reported under Part 3 of Article 426 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of power or office, which entailed grave consequences), the sanction of which provides for restriction of freedom for up to five years.
As reported, from July 2015 until October 2019, the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection was headed by Leonid Yevdochenko.
