SBI exposes scheme to counterfeit international certificates of vaccination against COVID-19 in Ivano-Frankivsk region
KYIV. Sept 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Security Service of Ukraine has blocked the scheme of counterfeiting and selling the International Certificate of Vaccination against coronavirus disease in Ivano-Frankivsk region.
According to the SBI press center, the scheme was organized by a resident of Ivano-Frankivsk region together with an accomplice – a resident of the neighboring region. They set up their "office" in the premises of one of the travel agencies, where they rented an office.
According to the investigation, the attackers created copies of vaccination certificates on a computer, printed them out, filled them in and certified them with fake seals. They sent the "orders" through postal operators, constantly changing the constituent data.
They started their criminal business at the beginning of 2021. The price of one fake was UAH 1,600, and the weekly income was over UAH 30,000.
For greater reliability, it was noted on the fakes that they were allegedly issued by private and state medical institutions in Kyiv, Volyn, Vinnytsia and Chernivtsi regions.
It was established that the participants in the criminal transaction were looking for clients through a travel agency: they were not only residents of Ukraine, but also foreigners – citizens of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Moldova.
During authorized searches, law enforcement officers found rough records with a client base, fake certificates of negative PCR tests, fake laboratory results and "international vaccination certificates."
Currently, the organizer of the crime has been informed of the suspicion under Part 3 of Article 358 (forgery of documents, seals, stamps and forms, sale or use of forged documents, seals, stamps) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
