Saakashvili's supporters to rally outside parliament until he is transferred to Gori hospital

TBILISI. Nov 19 (Interfax) – The rally outside the building of the Georgian parliament on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi will continue until former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili is transferred from the prison infirmary to a military hospital in Gori.

Nikanor Melia, chairman of the opposition party United National Movement, informed participants in the rally about this decision.

"We must not leave Rustaveli Avenue until we see that Mikheil Saakashvili is in the hospital," he said.

The United National Movement leaders are currently waiting for Saakashvili’s answer to the proposal of the Georgian Justice Ministry to transport him to the military hospital in Gori, Melia said.

He said he is confident that Saakashvili would agree.

The rally outside the parliament is taking place in a calm atmosphere, the opposition leaders are making speeches from the stage and the police are calmly monitoring the situation, an Interfax correspondent reported.
