RWBI down after peak in Dec – UCSC
KYIV. March 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The retail well-being index (RWBI) has fallen to 29 points after the peak in December, the press service of the Ukrainian Council of Shopping Centers (UCSC) has told Interfax-Ukraine.
“According to the results of monitoring the RWBI in Ukraine, the situation has been constantly improving since the beginning of the war. However, in January 2023, the Index indicator expectedly fell by 0.3 points after the traditional peak footfall in December,” Head of the UCSC research group, Head of the Ukrainian Research Bureau (URB) Dmytro Topolskov said.
The expert recalled that at the beginning of 2022, RWBI was 38.2, with the outbreak of war it fell to 16.7 in March 2022, then gradually recovered, reaching 29.3 points at the end of 2022.
The RWBI was developed in 2020. It allows tracking the level of well-being of retailers in dynamics, taking into account such indicators as the shopping centers’ footfall, the occupancy rate and the rent rate. RWBI has been tracked in pilot mode since August 2021.
Established in 2020, the UCSC is a non-profit organization that brings together major participants in the retail real estate market: owners and developers of shopping centers, as well as companies involved in the construction and maintenance of shopping malls.
