Russia's Black Sea Fleet begins largescale exercise
MOSCOW. Sept 20 (Interfax) – About 20 ships and supply vessels from Russia’s Black Sea Fleet have left Sevastopol and Novorossiysk bases for a missile and artillery firing exercise, the press service for the Black Sea Fleet said on Monday.
"The exercise involves missile ships, AWS ships, submarines, and minesweepers of the fleet, as well as support and rescue vessels, planes, and helicopters," the press service said.
Once they reach the marine training ranges, the crews, operating within combined-arms tactical groups, will perform missile and artillery launches and will train sea battles, submarine chases, detection, and a strike on a coastal command post, as well as deterrence of a mock enemy’s airstrike, the press service said.
