Russian Senator Klintsevich, 198 other members of Russian Union of Afghanistan Veterans awarded for Crimea occupation – Crimea Reintegration Association
KYIV. Sept 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A list of 199 representatives of the Russian Union of Afghan Veterans, who directly participated in the Russian operation to occupy the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea in 2014 and were awarded by the Russian authorities in March of the same year, is published on the website of the Association of Reintegration of Crimea.
As noted in the report, four members of the Union were awarded the "Certificate of Merit for the annexation of Crimea", nine were awarded the "Commendation of the President of the Russian Federation for the annexation of Crimea" and 186 were presented to the "certificate of the President of the Russian Federation for the annexation of Crimea." The list contains the names and passport details of the recipients, including the leader of the Union, Russian Senator Franz Klintsevich.
"We are convinced that the lists will arouse interest among representatives of the volunteer and expert community who are investigating war crimes in Russia, and will also attract the attention of the competent authorities of other countries, on the territory of which the persons involved in the lists may temporarily or permanently arrive at the present time," the message says.
The Association notes that back in June 2014, the media reported about Russians secretly awarded for the "Crimean campaign", some of whom were related to the seizure of Ukrainian military units and administrative buildings, some participated in mass meetings under the guise of local residents, and some provided information support in Moscow. The awards were first received by officials, then by members of the United Russia and Patriots of Russia parties, and on March 31 – by members of the Union. Three representatives of the Union were awarded a medal of the Order for Merit to the Fatherland, II degree, nine were awarded with a certificate of gratitude from the President of the Russian Federation, and 186 people were awarded a Certificate of Honor with the wording "For active participation in strengthening friendship between peoples."
Despite the fact that the decrees of the President of the Russian Federation were not published, the awardees did not hide their awards, the publication notes. Then an incomplete list of them was presented.
