Russia unlikely to gather enough forces to attack Kyiv from north in Feb – ex-commander of U.S. forces in Europe
KYIV. Dec 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Retired American lieutenant general, former commander of U.S. forces in Europe, Ben Hodges expressed doubts about Russia’s ability to organize an attack on Kyiv in February this year.
"I doubt Russia can muster this size force in this time frame, at least not of any quality," Hodges said on Twitter, commenting on the related post.
He also noted that "exaggeration of potential for new Russian offensives give fuel to those who are looking for reasons not to continue supporting Ukraine."
As reported, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valeriy Zaluzhny, in an interview with The Economist, called one of the main tasks of the Ukrainian army "to create reserves and prepare for a war that could take place in February, at best in March, and at worst – at the end of January," having in mind a new possible offensive of the Russian invaders towards Kyiv from the north, from Belarus.
