Russia to supply Belarus with dozens of planes, helicopters, air defense systems, possibly including S-400 – Lukashenko

MINSK. Sept 1 (Interfax) – Russia will ship dozens of planes, helicopters, and air defense systems, including possibly the S-400, to Belarus in the near future, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Wednesday.

"In the near future (I signed a directive the day before yesterday), the Russian Federation will supply us with dozens of planes, dozens of helicopters, and the most important air defense weapons (I won’t say what money it’s about and so on). Perhaps even the S-400. We really need them, I’ve spoken about this before," the state-run news agency BelTA quoted Lukashenko as saying.

Lukashenko reiterated that he was speaking about the most advanced hardware. "We’ll upgrade our equipment. If we see during the [Zapad-2021] exercise that we need something else, then we’ll buy it from the Russian Federation and put it into service," he said.
