Russia registers 32,930 new COVID-19 cases, 1,217 deaths in past 24 hours – HQ

MOSCOW. Dec 3 (Interfax) – Russia has registered 32,930 new cases of COVID-19 and 1,217 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Friday.

"Over the past day, 32,930 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 2,555 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (7.8%)," the headquarters said.

According to the headquarters, there were 3,304 new infections in Moscow, 2,609 in St. Petersburg, and 1,813 in the Moscow region.

Over the past day, 1,217 patients died from COVID-19 across Russia, with the most deaths recorded in Moscow (95), St. Petersburg (60), and Moscow region (54).

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 9,736,037 cases of COVID-19, including 278,857 deaths and 8,436,631 recoveries, including 36,514 persons discharged from hospital over the past day, 3,600 of them in Moscow.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Friday that Russia has performed more than 226.8 million COVID-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 625,000 over the past day. As many as 1,719,408 people remain under medical observation.
