Russia registers 30,209 new cases of COVID-19, 1,181 deaths in past 24 hours – HQ
MOSCOW. Dec 9 (Interfax) – Russia has registered 30,209 new cases of COVID-19 and 1,181 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.
"Over the past day, 30,209 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 2,247 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (7.4%)," the headquarters said.
There were 2,948 new infections in Moscow, 2,111 in St. Petersburg, and 1,616 in the Moscow region, the headquarters said.
Over the past day, 1,181 patients died from COVID-19 across Russia, mostly, in Moscow (92), St. Petersburg (54), and the Moscow region (50).
Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 9,925,806 cases of COVID-19, including 286,004 deaths and 8,637,861 recoveries, including 35,794 persons discharged from hospital over the past day, 3,171 of them in Moscow.
The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Thursday that Russia has performed more than 229.8 million COVID-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 570,000 over the past day. As many as 1,659,852 people remain under medical observation.
