Russia registers 18,856 new COVID-19 cases, 799 deaths in past 24 hours – HQ
MOSCOW. Sept 3 (Interfax) – Russia has registered 18,856 new cases of COVID-19 and 799 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Friday.
"Over the past day, 18,856 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 1,336 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (7.1%)," the headquarters said.
There were 799 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, with the most deaths recorded in Moscow (50), St. Petersburg (38), and the Krasnodar Territory (34). Across the country, 18,690 patients were discharged from hospitals upon recovery.
According to the headquarters, Moscow has reported 1,633 new cases of COVID-19 and 1,556 recoveries over the past day. There were 1,437 new infections recorded in St. Petersburg and 681 in the Moscow region.
Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 6,975,174 cases of COVID-19, including 185,611 deaths and 6,236,738 recoveries.
