Russia registers 17,837 new cases of COVID-19, 781 deaths in past 24 hours – HQ

MOSCOW. Sept 14 (Interfax) – Russia has registered 17,837 new cases of COVID-19 and 781 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Over the past day, 17,837 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 1,148 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (6.5%)," the headquarters said.

The daily coronavirus morbidity has been fluctuating around 18,000 since the beginning of September. There were 18,178 new cases on Monday, or 341 more than on Tuesday.

Moscow has also reported a decline in new cases of COVID-19, from 2,022 on Monday to 1,609 on Tuesday.

In the past 24 hours, 781 patients died from COVID-19 across Russia, most of them in Moscow (47), St. Petersburg (37), and the Sverdlovsk region (36). Meanwhile, 15,907 patients have been discharged from hospitals upon recovery, including 1,362 in Moscow.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 7,176,085 cases of COVID-19, including 194,249 deaths and 6,418,033 recoveries.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Tuesday that Russia has performed more than 184.3 million COVID-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 278,000 over the past day. As many as 1,128,806 people remain under medical observation.
