Russia records all-time high of COVID-19 cases, 40,251, over past day – coronavirus response HQ
MOSCOW. Oct 30 (Interfax) – The daily growth of new COVID-19 cases in Russia has reached 40,251, it is an all-time high throughout the pandemic, and 1,160 people have died over the past day, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a bulletin on Saturday.
"Russia has recorded 40,251 new confirmed coronavirus cases in 85 regions over the past 24 hours, including 3,326 cases (8.3%) identified proactively, without any clinical symptoms," the bulletin said.
It is now the second time this week when a number of new COVID-19 cases has exceeded 40,000 cases in Russia. The non-working days were announced in the country from October 30 to November 7 in order to break the chains of the infection spread.
The regions which recorded the highest number of daily COVID-19 cases are Moscow (7,267), St. Petersburg (3,578), the Moscow region (2,680), the Samara region (1,405), and the Nizhny Novgorod region (815).
As many as 1,160 deaths from COVID-19 have been recorded over the past day. Moscow recorded the highest daily death toll, 97, St. Petersburg 76, and the Krasnodar Territory 43.
The cumulative number of new coronavirus cases recorded in Russia has reached 8,472,797 in the past day. Over the entire period of the pandemic, 237,380 people have died in Russia. As many as 7,331,424 patients have been discharged from hospitals, including 28,909 over the past day. Out of them, 5,506 patients were discharged from hospitals in Moscow.
Russia’s consumer health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Saturday that Russia has conducted over 208.4 million COVID-19 tests in total, including 742,000 over the past 24 hours. As many as 1,947,362 people remain under medical supervision in Russia.
