Russia, Hungary contract to supply gas by bypassing Ukraine does not violate norms of int'l trade – Peskov
MOSCOW. Sept 28 (Interfax) – The contract between Russia and Hungary on supplying gas by bypassing Ukraine does not violate any country’s rights, and it complies with the norms of international trade, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"We are implementing our bilateral relations with Hungary. This concerns precisely a long-term contract that will also guarantee reliable, predictable and regular supplies of the blue fuel to Hungary along guaranteed and economically profitable routes. Nobody’s rights are being violated here. No international trade rules are being violated," Peskov said.
Peskov noted that other countries, including Ukraine, could not interfere in this aspect of Russian-Hungarian relations.
The Kremlin spokesman also commented on criticism from Kiev concerning the signing of the contract with Hungary.
"Such a reaction does not require any response," Peskov said.
Peskov stressed that, "the Russian side was and remains an absolute and indisputable guarantor of the energy security of the entire European continent."
