Russia cut wheat exports 17.3% to 1.8 mln tonnes in July – customs
MOSCOW. Sept 9 (Interfax) – Russia reduced exports of wheat and meslin 17.3% year-on-year to 1.844 million tonnes in July 2021, the Federal Customs Service (FCS) said in a statement.
In value terms, exports declined 20.7% to $452.2 million.
The reduction in exports in July occurred after a sharp increase in June – 4.9-fold compared to May – amid introduction of a floating duty, which turned out to be significantly lower than the fixed duty that applied earlier. From June 2, the duty amounted to $28.1 per tonne against the fixed one of 50 euros per tonne. The floating duty is updated each week and currently amounts to $46.5 per tonne.
In January-July, wheat exports from Russia came to 14.097 million tonnes for $3.592 billion, down 5.8% from the same period of 2020. In value terms, exports grew 12.9%.
The FCS additionally said that vegetable oil exports from Russia had declined 19.5% to 1.93 million tonnes but grown 43.3% in value terms to $2.43 billion in 7M.
Fish exports from Russia reduced 18% to 807,200 tonnes or 14.7% to $1.349 billion in January-July.
