Russia continues to block Ukrainian units around Azovstal plant, there are attempts of assault actions – Defense Ministry
KYIV. May 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Russia continues to blockade Ukrainian units in the area of Azovstal plant, there have been attempts to carry out assault actions, Spokesman for the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Oleksandr Motuzianyk has said.
"Russia continues to blockade our units in the area of Azovstal plant. There were attempts at assault operations. Periodically, artillery, missile and bomb strikes from aviation continue," Motuzianyk said at a briefing at the Ukraine media center in Kyiv on Wednesday.
He said Russia is currently trying to carry out filtration measures in Mariupol.
"There are attempts, there are facts of the removal of the population to the territory of Russia, and forcibly, without their consent. And this is in the 21st century. These are crimes that Russia is carrying out as of today in this city, which was actually destroyed by the Russian army," the spokesman said.
