Russia alone bears sole responsibility for aggression against Ukraine, famine for tens of millions of people around world – US Ambassador to UN
KYIV. Aug 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Millions of Ukrainians are still under siege, and tens of millions of people around the world are starving because of Russia’s actions, U.S. Permanent Representative to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said.
At a meeting of the UN Security Council in New York on Wednesday, Thomas-Greenfield said even will be a progress, such as the movement of grain and other food from Ukrainian ports under a much needed agreement signed with Turkey, Russia has not let us forget its intentions. Just a few hours after the completion of the deal, Russia launched missiles at the port of Odesa. These missiles were an important reminder that millions of Ukrainians are still under siege and tens of millions around the world are starving because of Russia’s actions, the official said.
She said that for all this violence and carnage, this famine and humanitarian crisis, human rights violations and threats to vulnerable groups, Russia and only Russia bears the sole responsibility, and only Russia is the only obstacle to the speedy resolution of this crisis.
Thomas-Greenfield said the international community will never recognize Russia’s attempt to change Ukraine’s borders by force.
According to her, it does not matter how many more fictitious referendums, illegal authorities Moscow is trying to establish, the UN leaders will continue to defend the UN Charter and defend the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine.
