Reznikov reports he will soon approve new structure of Ukraine's Defense Ministry

KYIV. Dec 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In the near future, Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov will approve the new structure of his department.

"In the near future, I plan to approve a new structure of the ministry, which at the functional level will reflect the most important directions," Reznikov said during an hour of questions to the government at a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada on Friday.

According to him, strategy, financial resource management, armament provision, digital transformation, and human development are among the main directions of the ministry’s work.

"The demilitarization of the ministry’s posts has already begun, and the military will be concentrated in the General Staff," Reznikov said.

He also said that it is planned to create five inter-structural committees, which will improve the efficiency of decision-making, and are the implementation of NATO principles based on the recommendations of Ukraine’s international partners.

The Minister of Defense stressed that the reform of the defense department will make it possible to turn the ministry into an effective civilian authority that shapes policy, exercises military-political and administrative control of the armed forces and ensures civil-democratic control.
