Reznikov discusses deepening bilateral cooperation with British Sec of State for Defense
KYIV. Nov 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov has met with British Secretary of State for Defense Ben Wallace, during the meeting the parties discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation between London and Kyiv, the press service of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has reported.
"During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of the security situation in the occupied territories of Eastern Ukraine and around its borders, Ukraine’s cooperation with NATO and in a bilateral format," the message says.
It notes that the heads of delegations paid special attention to the consideration of the issue of the further use by the Russian military-political leadership of hybrid methods of waging war against both Ukraine and the EU and NATO member states, as well as the continuation of the militarization of the Azov-Black Sea region and obstruction by the country- invader of the Russian Federation to free shipping.
"The members of both delegations stated the fact of a further aggravation of the security situation due to the irresponsible and provocative actions of Russia," the Defense Ministry stressed.
They clarify that the meeting participants emphasized that Ukraine and Great Britain are strategic partners in the field of security and defense, having a common vision of countering the challenges and threats of today and are fully committed to ensuring peace and security in Europe, protecting common values and freedoms.
"Considerable attention was paid to the discussion of issues of bilateral cooperation. In particular, the implementation of the Intergovernmental Framework Agreement signed in London last week, which will allow the transition to the practical implementation of projects to develop the capabilities of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the ministry said.
The Ministry of Defense adds that Ben Wallace stressed that the UK would continue to provide comprehensive support to Ukraine in the development of democracy, reform and development of the capabilities of the Armed Forces, as well as the implementation of Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration.
As reported, on November 16, UK Secretary of State for Defense Ben Wallace arrived in Ukraine on a working visit.
