Reintegration Ministry initiates creation of unified register of prisoners in Moscow
KYIV. Feb 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ministry of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories initiates the creation of a Unified Register of Kremlin prisoners.
“On behalf of Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereschuk, the National Information Bureau (NIB) is updating the lists of civilian hostages held in Russian captivity and is starting work on creating a separate register of Kremlin prisoners. It’s about citizens of Ukraine – civilian hostages who were deprived of their personal freedom by the occupiers precisely because of their political or public activities,” the ministry’s press service said.
It is noted that at present the National Information Bureau is aware of at least 170 such persons.
“In fact, the number of our citizens who are in captivity due to political or public activities may be much larger. First of all, we are talking about the Crimean Tatars, who have been resisting the invaders for nine years of the occupation of the peninsula,” the ministry believes.
