Rehabilitation of Kravchuk is successful, but slow, he not to take part in TCG until end of year – Arestovych

KYIV. Oct 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Rehabilitation of Head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG), the first President of Ukraine (1991-1994) Leonid Kravchuk is proceeding successfully, but slowly, and until the end of the year he will not take part in TCG meetings, spokesperson of the Ukrainian delegation said in TCG Oleksiy Arestovych said.

"Leonid Makarovych underwent a very difficult heart operation, but it turned out to be successful. The rehabilitation period, as his relatives say, will be very long, because the man is 86 years old. The heart operation had a good chance of being unsuccessful, as they say. He is now in Germany. He is undergoing rehabilitation. It is successful, but very slow. Therefore, I think that by the end of the year Oleksandr Merezhko will be the deputy head of the delegation [in TCG]," Arestovych said on the air of the Ukraine 24 television channel on Friday.

He also denied rumors in the media that Oleksiy Liovochkin, the former head of administration during the times of Viktor Yanukovych, could become the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG.

"Deputy Prime Minister and First Deputy Head of the delegation Oleksiy Reznikov specifically denied these rumors. These are elements of information confrontation within the country, and, perhaps, with the Russian trace," Arestovych said.
