Recovery Trust Fund under auspices of World Bank can start operating as early as mid-2023
KYIV. Aug 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Recovery Trust Fund can start operating as early as mid-2023, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure for European Integration Hanna Yurchenko said at the presentation of the Register of Damaged and Destroyed Property on Friday.
She recalled that the main donors put forward the idea of creating a trust fund, which will operate under the auspices of the World Bank.
"This is a very good idea, because in this case, projects will be implemented exclusively according to the best European practices – regarding procurement, contracts, organization of processes, and so on. All projects will be on the platform [in the Register of Damaged and Destroyed Property]. According to the preliminary agreements of donors and the government of Ukraine, this trust fund can start operating from the middle of next year," Yurchenko said.
The deputy minister added that during this time the main task is to "remove bottlenecks." In particular, to improve the ProZorro system, update the regulatory framework and building codes, train specialists, etc.
