Razumkov, Smeshko, Groysman to compete in elections to Rada – Korniyenko
KYIV. Nov 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Korniyenko says that ex-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov, leaders of the Ukrainian Strategy of Groysman and Strength and Honor parties Volodymyr Groysman and Ihor Smeshko will compete with each other in the parliamentary elections.
"Sociology says that for now they are in the second league. And therefore, most likely they will compete with each other. So far, the potential electorate of Razumkov and Smeshko is very close. Each of them has publicly declared to be a conservative. And this may lead them to the union, which will be interesting to look at," Korniyenko said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine, answering the question whether Groysman, Smeshko and Razumkov will become the main competitors of the Servant of the people in the parliamentary elections.
He also believes that there will be competition in the elections between Yevhen Muraev [leader of the Nashi party] and Dmytro Razumkov.
"Will they all get into parliament? It depends on many factors. First of all, it depends on when and by what system the elections will be held. So far, it is planned for 2023 according to the open list system with regional reference. This system, among other things, is complicated by the fact that you need to have a minimum of 130 good candidates – five candidates per district (26 districts). Where can a party get 130 candidates? This is easier for the ‘servant’. We have a minimum – a choice from the MPs, from the local heads of regional councils, the heads of the communities. We will definitely find a dozen good candidates in each region!" Korniyenko said.
The full text of the interview will be posted on the website of the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
