Rada transfers control over prices for road repairs to Ministry of Infrastructure

KYIV. Nov 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Verkhovna Rada has delegated the authority of the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development to provide regulatory support for the construction and maintenance of roads to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

The adoption of bill No. 2234 at the final reading was supported at a meeting of the Rada on Tuesday by 239 MPs with the required 226 votes.

This law removes the construction and repair of public roads from the scope of the established estimated norms and standards for pricing in construction.

Instead, it is proposed to establish that the cost of new construction, reconstruction, repair and maintenance of public roads is determined on the basis of methods and rules approved by the Ministry of Infrastructure.

Previously, the authority to approve estimated norms and standards was assigned to the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development. The adopted document transfers them to the central executive body, which ensures the formation and implements the state policy in the field of road facilities, that is, the Ministry of Infrastructure.

As reported, this document was adopted at the first reading on February 3, 2021.
