Rada raises state budget spending by another UAH 270 bln through internal loans

KYIV. Aug 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Verkhovna Rada at the proposal of the ruling Servant of the People faction approved the increase in state budget-2022 spending by UAH 270 billion, of which over UAH 269 billion is for national security and defense.

Some 287 MPs voted for relevant law No. 7644 on Monday.

"The implementation of the bill will lead to an increase in the state budget deficit and the maximum amount of debt by the corresponding amount," says an explanatory note to the document, the text of which was prepared by the government.

According to the bill, in particular, spending on the Ministry of Defense increased by UAH 241.16 billion, including wages – by UAH 145.3 billion, the Interior Ministry – by UAH 22.86 billion, the SBU – by UAH 2.46 billion, the Defense Intelligence – UAH 2.22 billion.

In addition, UAH 715.7 million was added to the reserve fund of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The amount of domestic borrowing by the adopted law was raised to UAH 794.1 billion, the limit on the deficit to UAH 1.09 trillion, and the public debt to UAH 3.6 trillion.

Zhelezniak clarified that the amendment about the additional UAH 12.7 billion to Naftogaz Ukrainy for the purchase of gas on credit from the Canadian government was not included in the final version of the document.
