Rada passes law on critical infrastructure
KYIV. Nov 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Verkhovna Rada supported bill No. 5219 "On critical infrastructure" at the second reading by 268 votes on Tuesday.
The bill provides for the creation of a National Commission for the Protection of Critical Infrastructure, which will be a permanent state collegial body, accountable to the Cabinet of Ministers, but carrying out its activities independently of any other state bodies.
The bill provides for the creation of the Register of critical infrastructure objects as an automated system, to which special requirements are established to ensure its safety and resilience, and their observance is monitored.
The document also provides for certification of critical infrastructure. The MSDS is developed or revised taking into account the identified design basis threats. Passport approval will be free for all operators of critical infrastructure facilities, regardless of ownership.
