Rada passes at first reading bill on procurement of legal services by NBU, necessary for cooperation with IMF

KYIV. Sept 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Verkhovna Rada has passed at first reading draft law No. 5852 with amendments to the law on public procurement regarding the procurement of legal services by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), which is necessary to continue cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Some 280 MPs voted for the bill at the first reading with the required 226 votes.

As stated in the explanatory note, the draft law grants the NBU the right to procure legal services to represent its interests in the international arena, in particular, to protect rights and interests during the settlement of disputes, consideration in foreign jurisdictional bodies of cases in which the NBU is a party.
