Rada Dpty Speaker to take part in meeting of women-speakers of EU parliaments

KYIV. Oct 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratiuk will take part in the meeting of women-speakers of parliaments of the European Union in Brussels on October 12.

"More than 4.2 million Ukrainian citizens are registered under temporary protection in European countries. At this meeting, we will discuss issues related to the arrival of women, children and the elderly from the Russian-invaded Ukraine. We will talk about their adaptation and integration — first of all, about creating better conditions for Ukrainian women and vulnerable groups to access social protection, the labor market, the education and healthcare system," Kondratiuk is quoted as saying by the website of the Ukrainian parliament on Tuesday.

According to her, the purpose of strengthening Russia’s missile terror against Ukrainian cities, housing developments, social and critical infrastructure facilities is to intimidate the population, cause another wave of internal displacement of people and provoke a new flow of temporary protection seekers from Ukraine to Europe.

"However, the Russian terrorists will not succeed. Ukrainians and Ukrainian women remain calm, invincible, and believe in victory, strengthening their assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We urgently need more determination from the international community and military assistance, especially modern air defense and missile defense systems, to close the skies over Ukraine," Kondratiuk noted.

The Deputy Speaker also said that she intends to raise the issue of urgent recognition by the parliaments of the EU countries of Russia as a terrorist state and the introduction of tough sanctions against the terrorist Kremlin regime."

The meeting of women leaders of EU parliaments will be attended by President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, speakers and deputy speakers of the legislative bodies of Poland, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia, Cyprus, Romania, and Slovenia.
