Rada completes preparations for registration of bill on delimitation of powers of Defense Minister, Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces, President – MP Bezuhla

KYIV. Sept 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence has completed preparations for the registration of a bill on the delimitation of the powers of the President of Ukraine as Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Minister of Defense and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, deputy chairperson of the committee Maryana Bezuhla (Servant of the People faction) said.

"Preparations have been completed for the registration of a bill on strengthening democratic civilian control over the Armed Forces of Ukraine, improving military leadership (including the delimitation of the powers of the Supreme Commander, Minister of Defense, Commander-in-Chief), and defense planning procedures. A few issues left. I will publish it next week," Bezuhla wrote on her Facebook page.

When asked by an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent, she also said that the committee members would hear the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny at a meeting on Friday.

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence reportedly planned to consider a de-oligarchization bill (No.5599), prepared for the second reading on Friday, September 17.

In addition, according to the announcement published on the parliament’s website, the agenda also includes hearing information from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on areas of activity.
