Rada calls on intl community to condemn annexation of Ukrainian territories by Russia
KYIV. Oct 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Verkhovna Rada appealed to the UN, the EU, NATO, parliaments and governments of all states of the world and international organizations with a demand to condemn the fictitious referendums held by Russia in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and their inclusion in its composition.
Some 315 deputies voted at a plenary session on Thursday for relevant draft resolution No. 8091 on the statement of the Verkhovna Rada in connection with the criminal decisions of the leadership of the Russian Federation regarding the attempted annexation of temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions of Ukraine, said parliamentarian Yaroslav Zheleznyak (Holos faction) on his Telegram channel.
The MPs also demand that international institutions increase sanctions pressure on Russia and its officials in order to force the Russian Federation to immediately stop aggression, withdraw its armed formations from the territory of Ukraine and restore its territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders of 1991.
The Ukrainian Parliament also asks to recognize the Russian Federation as a state-sponsor of terrorism, to increase military assistance to Ukraine, including offensive weapons, to support the initiative to create a special criminal tribunal on the crime of the Russian Federation.
In addition, the Verkhovna Rada in its appeal called on the world community to support the desire of the Ukrainian people to grant Ukraine membership in the European Union and NATO as soon as possible.
