Rada adopts at first reading bill on phased introduction of Unified Judicial Information and Telecommunication System
KYIV. March 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Verkhovna Rada adopted at first reading a bill on the phased introduction of the Unified Judicial Information and Telecommunication System (UJITS).
Yaroslav Zhelezniak, a member of the Holos parliamentary faction, said on its Telegram channel, bill No. 8219 on amending the Criminal Procedure Code on ensuring the phased implementation of the UJITS was supported by 262 MPs at the plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday.
As noted in an explanatory note to the bill, the phased introduction of the UJITS will allow for a comprehensive start of preparations for its functioning in courts, bodies and institutions of the justice system, which will contribute to the observance of the rights and obligations of participants in criminal proceedings, compliance with deadlines in criminal proceedings, simplification and acceleration of all stages judicial review.
The bill provides for the possibility for the participants of the case to submit procedural documents in electronic form to the court using the UJITS.
Changes to the legislation also make it possible to call a participant in a case by sending him or her text messages in the manner prescribed by the regulation on the UJITS.
