Prompt exemption of mobile granary imports from taxation will reduce fiscal burden on agri sector – UAC
KYIV. Aug 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UAC) welcomes the signing by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on August 15 of draft law No. 7548-1 on exemption from import duties of goods used for storage of grains and oilseeds.
Due to this for the period of martial law in Ukraine and 30 days after its termination, equipment and products for storing, transporting, loading and unloading grain and oilseeds are not subject to import duty, the UAC reported.
"The UAC thanks the MPs for supporting the bill, which will reduce financial burden on the agricultural sector of Ukraine, and the president of Ukraine for the quick signing, which will allow launching the initiative," the organization wrote on its Facebook page.
According to it, this law is important for the agricultural sector, because it helps solve the problem of storing agricultural products, which has arisen sharply due to the difficult situation with logistics. As a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, many granaries were destroyed, and the remaining capacity of the elevators is not enough to store the new crop and ending stocks from the last season.
As reported, on July 27, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported in general bill No. 7548-1, exempting from import duties of imports to Ukraine of polymer bags and sleeves for storing grains and oilseeds, as well as equipment for their filling and loading/unloading. This measure is dictated by Ukraine’s need for about 80,000 polyethylene sleeves for storing grain in order to save the surplus crop that will accumulate at agricultural enterprises until the end of the current season due to difficulties with grain exports.
