Profit of Ukrainian banks falls by 85.5% in Jan-Sept – NBU
KYIV. Nov 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The profit of Ukrainian banks in January-September 2022 amounted to UAH 7.4 billion, which is 85.5% less than in the same period last year (UAH 51.4 billion), the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) said on Monday.
According to the report, the loss of Ukrainian banks in September amounted to UAH 1 billion, while the profit in August amounted to UAH 5.05 billion.
The regulator said that the income of banks in September dropped by 13.3%, and expenses by 13.1%.
According to the regulator, the income of banks in the first nine months of this year grew by 30.8% year-over-year, to UAH 255.08 billion. At the same time, fee and commission income fell by 16% year-over-year, to UAH 59.8 billion (whereas it grew by 28% a year ago).
At the same time, the result from the revaluation and from purchase and sale operations was positive and amounted to UAH 37.1 billion, while for the same period last year it was negative and amounted to UAH 2.4 billion.
At the same time, the expenses of the banking system in January-September 2022 rose by 72.5% compared to this indicator in 2021, to UAH 247.7 billion, including contributions to reserves 12.9-fold, to UAH 99 billion. UAH At the same time, fee and commission expenses grew by 2%, to UAH 25 billion,
As reported, Ukrainian banks doubled their net profit in 2021, to UAH 77.5 billion compared to UAH 41.3 billion in 2020.
