Probability of Russia being recognized as state-sponsor of terrorism is high – Kuleba

KYIV. Aug 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The probability of Russia’s recognition as a state-sponsor of terrorism is high, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said in the program Visiting Dmytro Hordon.

When asked how likely it is that Russia will be recognized as a terrorist state, Kuleba said: "Great. The longer the war lasts, the more likely it will happen."

He noted that all over the world the status of a state-sponsor of terrorism is a political stigma, but in the United States this status entails specific legal consequences. The promotion of this issue, according to the Foreign Minister, is personally controlled by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, "he has identified it as a priority."

Kuleba noted that the Americans are still resisting, "but we are working to make it happen."

The Foreign Minister is also convinced that a special tribunal will be created for those who have unleashed a war with Ukraine. "Not fast. But the tribunal for specifically committing the crime of aggression, which should condemn Putin and all his closest clique, we will help to create this tribunal," he said.

In addition, Kuleba believes that the whole of Europe will not go to the abolition of visas for Russians. "What is the entry of a Russian into Europe? There is a physical entrance – by car, by train, by bus. It is possible through Finland, the Baltic States and Poland… The key is to make a decision at least by these countries, and then we will make a full-fledged decision," he explained.

When asked how not to block the entry to Europe of Russians who support Ukraine, the Foreign Minister said: "Every country has the status of a political refugee. The second is the inclusion of entry for humanitarian reasons. That is, we must understand that we are really talking about isolated cases. And this is the tragedy of modern Russia, because they have reduced the number of sane people to isolated cases."

"I am sure that solutions can be found for them [Russians who support Ukraine] on humanitarian grounds. But in general, the Russian people share responsibility with President Putin for this war," Kuleba said.
