President's Office expects from Ukraine-EU summit to be consolidated in declaration of Ukraine's European perspective

KYIV. Sept 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The President’s Office of Ukraine expects from the Ukraine-EU summit, scheduled for October 12, to be consolidated in a joint declaration of Ukraine’s European prospects, Deputy Head of the President’s Office Ihor Zhovkva has said.

"Among those key provisions, which we expect to be consolidated in a joint statement, and we will certainly have relevant provisions that will recognize Ukraine’s European aspirations and European choice […] found reflection in the joint statement," Zhovkva said at a press briefing on entitled "Conditions for success of the Ukraine-EU summit. What to expect from the main European meeting of the year?" in Kyiv on Tuesday.

According to him, the document is still at the stage of work, but already now we can say that the declaration "will clearly establish Ukraine’s ability to further integrate with the EU internal market, fix the assessment of the achievement of the goals of the Association Agreement, both with the Ukrainian and on the European side, and strive to prepare a joint assessment of the implementation of this Agreement."

In addition, a core block of political issues will become important, which provides for the reflection of EU support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, the call for the EU to stop Russian aggression with a specific definition of the aggressor party, the unconditional implementation of the Minsk agreements and the continuation of the policy of approving personal and sectoral sanctions against Russia."

The actions of Ukraine in the context of work in the Associated Trio will also be mentioned.

Zhovkva said in addition to political issues, the economic block, sectoral integration with the EU and the block of reforms will be touched upon.
