President's Office Dpty Head Mashovets discusses security situation around Ukraine with foreign defense experts
KYIV. Dec 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Deputy Head of the President’s Office of Ukraine Roman Mashovets and the Group of Foreign Advisers on Defense Reform discussed the security situation around Ukraine, as well as the process of reforming and increasing the defense capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the Defense Intelligence Agency of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine on Facebook on Thursday, strategic experts from the United States, the Republic of Lithuania, the United Kingdom, Canada, the Republic of Poland and the Federal Republic of Germany are involved in the work of the group.
"Deputy Head of the President’s Office of Ukraine Roman Mashovets held a videoconference with the Group of Foreign Advisers on Defense Reform in Ukraine, during which a number of issues of reforming the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and improving the defense capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were discussed. Roman Mashovets informed foreign colleagues about the security situation in the east and around our state and on the forecasts of its development," the Defense Intelligence Agency said.
It specifies that during the videoconference Mashovets also told Western experts that Russia has concentrated an armed group along the Ukrainian border, ready to use force against our state. According to him, Russia has conducted a series of exercises directed against Ukraine. In addition, Russia uses the territory of Belarus for a possible expansion of aggression.
"The videoconference participants discussed in detail the practical aspects of the defense reform in Ukraine and agreed to continue an active dialogue," the Defense Intelligence Agency said.
