Presidents of Israel, Germany and Albania expected to visit Kyiv on occasion of 80th anniversary of Babyn Yar tragedy
KYIV. Sept 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy on October 6, the presidents of Israel, Germany and Albania are expected to visit Ukraine, according to the press service of the Babyn Yar Holocaust Memorial Center.
According to the announcement posted on the Center’s website, on Wednesday, October 6, a breakfast of the leaders of international Jewish organizations with members of the Supervisory Board of the Memorial Center is planned to take place in Hyatt Regency, followed by their press conference at 11:00.
At 14:00, according to the program, the lunch of President of Israel Isaac Herzog will take place at the InterContinental Kyiv hotel.
At 17:00, an official commemoration ceremony is expected to take place with the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the opening of the Crystal Wall of Crying memorial by artist and author Marina Abramovic.
The event will also be attended by President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of Israel Isaac Herzog and President of Albania Ilir Meta.
Also, at 21:00 on this day, an official reception will be held with the participation of the President of Ukraine and heads of foreign states.
According to the organizers, memorial events will begin in Kyiv on September 27.
