Premiers of Ukraine and Japan discuss security at Ukrainian nuclear facilities
KYIV. Sept 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida during a working visit to New York (USA), the press service of the Government of Ukraine reported.
"The key global challenge today is the nuclear safety of our facilities. The russians blackmailed the world with the Chornobyl nuclear power plant, and now with Europe’s largest Zaporizhia nuclear power plant. On Monday, they shelled the territory of the Yuzhnoukrainsk NPP. We appeal to the civilized world to unite around this problem and demilitarize the ZNPP from russian troops," said the Head of the Ukrainian Government.
Shmyhal emphasized that Ukraine expects particularly strong support in this matter from Japan and the G7 countries.
“The Prime Minister also announced that his country would work with the international community to continue tough sanctions against russian energy resources, including the establishment of maximum prices for oil and gas from the russian federation,” the message reads.
