Potential value of 2023 harvest corresponds to 2022 indicators – Ministry of Agrarian Policy
KYIV. March 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The reduction of sown areas with grains and their expansion with oilseeds and sugar beet by 10-15% this season brings the potential value of the future harvest to the value recorded in 2022, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky said.
“The reason for the reduction in the production of grain crops was unfavorable weather factors that did not allow farmers to sow winter wheat in autumn. Areas with corn were reduced by 10-12% due to expensive logistics,” he said during the United News marathon.
Vysotsky added that in 2023, farmers also faced mined fields, financial problems, and limited sales markets.
According to him, to solve these problems, Ukraine has approved a program to extend preferential lending for the agricultural sector, a humanitarian demining team is operating, the grain initiative has been extended, and more road and rail checkpoints have been built to develop alternative logistics.
