Portugal to support Ukraine's recovery – Svyrydenko
KYIV. Jan 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Portugal will support Ukraine’s recovery and help build international support for Ukraine for the sake of victory, Yulia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, said.
She expressed this opinion following her meeting with Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, where the Ukrainian delegation headed by Svyrydenko took part in the inauguration ceremony of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
"I am grateful to President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa for his personal involvement and diplomatic efforts in achieving victory and peace. I am convinced that economic and political cooperation with Portugal will only intensify. We reasonably count on assistance in moving our state to the European Union and Portugal’s participation in the restoration of Ukraine" Svyrydenko is quoted by her press service in a message released on Monday.
As Svyrydenko notes, Portugal will help Ukraine "in the restoration of educational facilities in Ukraine. We are also grateful for the help in strengthening our cooperation with the Portuguese-speaking community around the world."
Portuguese President Rebelo de Sousa at the meeting confirmed full solidarity with Ukraine and the readiness to expand cooperation.
During the meeting, issues of cooperation in the economic sphere, the situation in Ukraine, in particular, in connection with missile attacks on energy infrastructure, practical issues of restoration, etc. were discussed.
