Portugal to provide Ukraine with six Ka helicopters – media

KYIV. Oct 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Government of Portugal will provide Ukraine with six Ka helicopters, which were deprived of operating license due to the introduction of sanctions against Russia, Observador has reported.

"At the request of Ukraine and in coordination with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, we will place at the disposal of Ukraine our fleet of Kamov helicopters, which, due to the current scenario of sanctions imposed on Russia, we can no longer operate, in fact they do not have airworthiness certificates and we even cannot fix them," Defense Minister of Portugal Helena Carreiras said following a meeting of NATO Defense Ministers in Brussels on Thursday.

She emphasized that the transferred helicopters will be useful for Ukraine and Ukrainian colleague will for sure put them to good use.
