KYIV. Sept 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Marine Terminal Nika-Tera (Sea Specialized Port Nika-Tera LLC, Mykolaiv), part of Dmytro Firtash’s Group DF, received lots of soybeans of the new crop, while in the 2020/21 (July-June), it reduced the transshipment of this crop by 60% compared to the record 2019/2020, to 201,400 tonnes.
On Friday, Group DF announced on its website that the port starts accepting the first cars with soybeans within the quota of TEP Transco LLC (Cherkasy).
"Soybeans account for about 10% of the total transshipment of grain and leguminous cargo in the port. We plan to ship soybeans in shiploads throughout the marketing year. In total, 1.4 million tonnes of soybeans were exported from Ukraine in 2020/21. We consider this market rather promising. In the previous marketing year, the Nika-Tera port handled 201,400 tonnes of soybeans," the port’s Harbormaster Alim Agakishiev was quoted by the company as saying.
According to Group DF, the seaport handled record volumes of soybeans in 2019/20 – 512,000 tonnes.
The company said that the global soybean harvest in 2020/21 amounted to 361.82 million tonnes, which corresponds to 60% of the total world production of oilseeds, while rapeseed and sunflower account for 11% and 8%, respectively.
