Poroshenko calls on to support journalist, Kremlin political prisoner Roman Suschenko in elections to Verkhovna Rada

KYIV. Sept 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Fifth President, leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko on Tarasova Gora in Kaniv called on Cherkasy residents to support in the parliamentary elections to the 197th constituency former Kremlin political prisoner, well-known journalist, first deputy chairman of Cherkasy region council Roman Suschenko.

"Cherkasy region is very lucky that the European Solidarity is represented here by a legendary man – Roman Suschenko. He is an outstanding journalist who worthily represented Ukraine in Paris. A man who knows many languages. Have you seen his paintings? It’s unbelievable. But Roman Suschenko became famous to the whole world, when Putin ordered his criminals from the FSB to kidnap Roman, throw him in prison in Lefortove, offering only one thing – to betray Ukraine," Poroshenko was quoted as saying on the website of the political force on Sunday.

The fifth president said that Suschenko had gone through "all these tortures, he was not broken by Lefortove or the FSB, and even his enemies recognized his courage."

"We need more European Solidarity in the parliament, so that there are no ‘button-pushers’ in the parliament who follow the criminal instructions from the President’s Office, but representatives of the people. Why is this so important now? Because Ukraine is going through turbulent and very difficult times. The country plunged into a crisis of economic, political, energy and security policy. And in these times, as well as in 2014, we need to have reliable people and a reliable team that will defend Ukraine," Poroshenko said.
