Polish operator of Druzhba oil pipeline currently not linking pipeline leak to third-party interference
KYIV. Oct 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Polish pipeline operator Pern, which detected a leak on the Druzhba oil pipeline on Wednesday, has so far not found any signs of third-party interference, the company said.
"Based on first findings and the manner in which the pipeline was deformed, it appears that at this point there are no signs of any third-party interference. However, more detailed analyses are underway to determine the cause of the incident and to repair the pipeline so that crude oil pumping can be restarted as soon as possible," the operator said.
On Wednesday morning, Pern reported an oil leak on one of the two strings of the western section of the Druzhba pipeline, about 70 km from Plock. This string supplies oil to Germany.
The other elements of Pern’s infrastructure, including the section along which oil delivered by tanker is transported to Germany, is operating normally.
