Pivdenny Mining resumes production from Nov 7 after four-month downtime
KYIV. Nov 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Pivdenny Mining and Processing Plant (Dnipropetrovsk region) resumes production from November 7 after a downtime since July 1 of this year.
According to the official information of the plant, the operational business plan for the current month will be 173,000 tonnes of iron ore concentrate. Marketable products will be sent to the Kamet steel and Zaporizhstal metallurgical enterprises.
At the same time, the planned volume of production is distributed between two ore-dressing plants of the enterprise, which will work around the clock. In general, four technological sections will start operating.
The production process also begins in the Pivdenny Mining’s open pit, where 398,000 tonnes of iron ore will be mined and sent for processing. Raw materials will be transported by rail.
With a reduced load, production also begins in the railway transport department, the crushing and transport complex, and the slurry systems workshop. The staff of departments comes out of idle time partially, depending on the need. Auxiliary shops will also work.
According to the press release, the production target for November 2022 is 13.4% compared to the same period last year. The reason for the decline in volumes is a number of objective factors. First of all it is the impossibility of shipping marketable products by sea from the ports of Odesa. The reduction in production is also affected by the shortage of electricity that has arisen since the beginning of October.
