PGO seizes batch of 33,000 tonnes of fertilizers from Russia and Belarus for UAH 650 mln
KYIV. May 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Office of the Prosecutor General has seized 33,000 tonnes of mineral fertilizers with an estimated cost of UAH 650 million, owned by enterprises of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.
The property was seized as part of the investigation into criminal proceedings on the fact of intentional tax evasion on an especially large scale (Part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), according to the PGO website.
During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that a batch of mineral fertilizers (potassium chloride) was imported into the territory of Ukraine in violation of the current customs legislation.
The pre-trial investigation of the case is carried out by the Bureau of Economic Security. The issue of confiscation of the arrested property to the state revenue is being resolved.
As reported, on March 7, a law on the forced seizure in Ukraine of objects of property rights of the Russian Federation and its residents came into force.
The law expands the list of persons to whom compulsory seizure of property may be applied. Nationalization of property may apply to individuals-citizens of the Russian Federation, as well as persons with other citizenship, if they are closely connected with the aggressor country.
