PGO ensures sale of seized assets, receipt of UAH 1.5 bln by ARMA and Ukrzaliznytsia
KYIV. Dec 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The sale of seized inventory items of companies that are residents of the Russian Federation and Belarus ensured the replenishment of deposit accounts of the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) by UAH 579.3 million, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reports.
"Prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General ensured the replenishment of ARMA’s deposit accounts by UAH 579.3 million from the sale of arrested inventory items of companies that are residents of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. Ukrzaliznytsia received UAH 1.3 billion of income from the commercial use of arrested railway cars and containers owned by these companies," the department said.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the property was seized at the request of prosecutors to compensate for the damage caused to the state and possible confiscation of property within criminal proceedings on the fact of deliberate tax evasion.
Subsequently, on the basis of the rulings of the investigating judges, the seized property was transferred to the management of ARMA.
Pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings is carried out by investigators from the Bureau of Economic Security f Ukraine.
