WASHINGTON. Dec 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The United States is ready to provide Ukraine with everything necessary for it to be able to ensure the defense of its territory, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said at a conference at the Ronald Reagan Foundation.
He reiterated Washington’s concern over the alleged build-up of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine, and said that the United States is ready to assist Ukraine in defending its sovereign territory, and to ensure that it has what it needs to protect the sovereign territory.
Austin noted that for this, the United States will seek various forms of support, stressing that in the current situation there is room for diplomacy and the work of leaders, but did not give details so as not to anticipate what U.S. President Joe Biden plans to talk about at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
As the White House confirmed, Biden, during a video link conversation with Putin on Tuesday, December 7, will raise the topic of Ukraine, cyber security, strategic stability.
"President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. will hold a secure video call with President Vladimir Putin of Russia on Tuesday, December 7, 2021," a statement posted by press secretary Jen Psaki reads.
According to her, "the leaders will discuss a range of topics in the U.S.-Russia relationship, including strategic stability, cyber, and regional issues."
Also, as the White House reported, President Biden "will underscore U.S. concerns with Russian military activities on the border with Ukraine and reaffirm the United States’ support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine."
