Over first three days, Ukrainians exchange over 750,000 lamps for energy-saving ones – Shmyhal
KYIV. Feb 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Citizens of Ukraine received more than 750,000 energy-saving lamps under the exchange program in the first three days of its operation, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said.
"More than 750,000 lamps have already been exchanged in Ukrposhta in the first three days. You can order the service both at the Ukrposhta branch and in the Diia app. LED lamps will further save on electricity," Shmyhal wrote on the Telegram channel, after visiting the Main Post Office with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Friday.
According to him, next week another 6 million lamps would be distributed among the cities of regional significance, and by the end of February, residents of remote villages will also be able to use the service thanks to the mobile offices of Ukrposhta.
As reported, from January 30, Ukrainians can exchange five old incandescent lamps for the same number of energy-saving LED lamps, the exchange program is an important step towards reducing the load on the Ukrainian energy system.
The new program is funded by the EU and is part of the European Union’s support for the Ukrainian "energy front". The European Union plans to provide Ukraine with 30 million LED lamps.
