Over 50% of Moldovans favor integration with EU, 58% opposed to entry into NATO – poll

CHISINAU. Dec 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Most Moldovans are ready to support their country’s accession to the European Union, but are opposed to its integration with NATO, according to the Sociopolitical Barometer. November 2022 survey presented by IMAS in Chisinau on Wednesday.

"Fifty-one percent of respondents would vote for, 33% would be against, and 16% are undecided, did not respond or would not cast their vote in a hypothetical referendum on Moldova’s entry into the EU next Sunday. Meanwhile, 23% would say yes, 58% would be against, and 19% are undecided, did not respond or would not cast their vote in a hypothetical referendum on Moldova’s entry into NATO next Sunday," the pollster said.

The survey indicates that 41% of Moldovans are ready to vote for Moldova’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union, while 36% are against it. 37% of respondents would support Moldova’s unification with Romania, while 50% would be against it.

In the opinion of respondents, the best solution to the current situation would be early elections (40%), the replacement of several ministers (25%), or the appointment of a new prime minister, the pollster said. Only 11% believe that the government should keep working as is, and 8% are undecided.

The poll of 1,100 respondents took place on November 10-29.
